ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

CARBON ACCOUNTANT

Graduates to senior accountants welcome to apply.

“I’m not a regular accountant, I’m a cool accountant” - if you want to proudly make this statement at your next family gathering or social event, it’s time to transition to carbon accounting. You’ll be working on one of the most significant global challenges of our time - how do we decarbonise small and medium businesses?

ER Advisory is a management and sustainability consulting firm based in Tasmania, we provide carbon accounting services through our start-up, Sumday. We’re looking for exceptional accountants with a passion for sustainability and a strong desire to support SMEs in decarbonising their organisations. Carbon accountants support clients to calculate their emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas standards, they also work closely with our analysts to identify opportunities for reducing emissions.

About the Role

You will be provided with training and support to learn at a rapid pace as you transition to the world of carbon accounting. While we all love excel – we communicate data to clients through PowerBi so experience using this will be highly regarded. Our clients are generally not cool Carbon accountants either - so we break complex information down in a way that is meaningful and makes sense to them. A strong ability to communicate effectively with clients is really important.

We’re headquartered in Burnie on the northwest coast of Tassie, if you’re from here or you’re willing to move here, that will be considered highly favourable. While we’re a flexible workplace that will always support our team to work in a way that meets their individual wants and needs - our success is centred around team connectivity and a fast-paced learning environment - something we know is optimised when we have opportunities to work together in person. And don’t be coming at us about Burnie - we’ve got the best cafe in the state (coffee sorted), breweries (one in town and two more nearby), little penguins (can live stream them on YouTube if you don’t believe us) and we’re less than an hour from some of the best outdoor playgrounds in Tasmania (hello Cradle Mountain and Boat Harbour beach).

Culture is everything for us and our values will tell you a lot about who we are, make sure you check them out on our website before applying!

If this sounds like the high impact role you’ve always wanted, we want to meet you! We’re looking for the most passionate people we can find to work on the biggest challenges we have.

Benefits

You will be joining a highly collaborative and fun team who enjoy working together and are passionate about what they do.

  • A competitive salary and flexibility to work from anywhere, although candidates who are willing to spend time in Tasmania will be highly regarded.

  • Market leading parental leave - any eligible parent who has been with us a year or more can take up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave within the first 12 months after their child’s birth or placement

  • Fun Fund - 2.5 % of revenue goes into a fun fund, the team votes on shared experiences that we might not otherwise have like kayaking, hiking, white water rafting, weekend retreats and more

  • We get the world is bigger than us and sometimes you need to explore - we offer up to 12 months unpaid leave to do just that.

  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities - if it adds value to you and our clients, we support it.

Our amazing team culture is fundamental to our success, to make sure that our services and our culture continue to include everyone's perspectives and experience we never discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital or disability status.

To apply, answer these four questions in a cover letter or video:

  • Think Big: If you could solve one problem on a global scale, what would it be and where would you start?

  • Think Local: If you live on the NW Coast what are the best things about living here? If you are looking to move here, what are you most looking forward to?

  • Think Green: What’s one of the most interesting sustainability projects that you have had the opportunity to work on? What was the impact and how was it measured? If you haven’t had an opportunity to work on one, what drives your interest in this space?

  • Think Outside of the Box: Do you consider yourself a creative thinker? How do you go about generating new ideas and insights?
